Stefan Grandientti studierte "Kamera für
Film & TV" an der HFF „Konrad Wolf“ in
Potsdam-Babelsberg und schloss 2003 als Diplom-Kameramann ab. Neben
dem Studium übte er freie Tätigkeiten als
Kamera-Assistent in Werbung, TV-Film und internationalen
Spielfilmproduktionen aus („Enemy at the Gates“,
„Resident Evil“, "Equilibrium",
„Luther“,...). Anschließend arbeitete er als
freier Kameramann mit Wohnsitz in Berlin in den Bereichen
Spielfilm, Dokumentarfilm und Werbung (TV und
Kino, international, ab 1998) und erhielt für
seine Arbeiten zahlreiche internationale Auszeichnungen.
Zusätzlich übte Stefan Grandinetti Tätigkeiten als
Gastdozent an verschiedenen Institutionen aus (HfG-Karlsruhe, HFF
Potsdam-Babelsberg, HFF-München, Inside-Out-Potsdam,
Medienbildungsgesellschaft-Potsdam). In 2010 wurde er an die
Hochschule der Medien zum Prof. für Kamera in Film & TV,
Digitale Kinematographie berufen. Er ist Mitglied im
Bundesverband Kinematographie (BVK), der Fernseh- und
Kinotechnischen Gesellschaft (FKTG), SMPTE und der Society for
Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T). Sein Forschungsinteresse
liegt im Bereich Advanced Imaging for Cinematic Motion Pictures:
In aktuellen Projekten beschäftigt er sich mit High
Dynamic Range (HDR) für Bewegtbilder und Higher Frame Rates
(HFR).

Die zentrale Fragestellung, wie sich die Kinoindustrie in der
Medienlandschaft, die sich durch die fortschreitende
Digitalisierung im Zeitalter rasanter Entwicklungen und damit im
extremen Wandel befindet, erfolgreich behaupten kann,
beschäftigt die Filmbranche immer wieder aufs Neue.

Forschungsthemen gehören zum Einen Untersuchungen von
innovativen Technologien, die zur Bildgestaltung in der digitalen
Kinematografie zum Einsatz kommen und das Kino der Zukunft
prägen können. Die Forschung ist sowohl auf praktische
Anwendungen ausgerichtet als auch auf grundlegende Untersuchungen
und greift bewußt aktuelle Themen und Fragestellungen der
Filmgestaltung auf, die im Kontext der Digitalisierung stehen. Zum
Anderen werden die Themen im Kontext zu weiteren transmedialen
Anwendungen gesehen, bei denen Film als klassischer Ausgangspunkt
audiovisueller Bewegtbilder gesehen wird.

Die Forschungsschwerpunkte fokussieren Gestaltungsfragen, die auf
technischen Neuerungen basieren und untersuchen deren
Wechselwirksamkeit. Sie befassen sich mit Parametern der
Bildgestaltung und Bildqualität, deren Perzeption, dem
Storytelling und ihrer Relevanz für den konkreten praktischen
Bezug für die Industrie. Besondere Forschungsschwerpunkte
werden mit der Initiierung von, oder der Beteiligung an
Projektverbünden gesetzt. Darüber hinaus wird eine
inhaltliche Vernetzung der einzelnen Schwerpunkte
angestrebt.

Die Forschungsschwerpunkte orientieren sich am Profil des
Studiengangs Audiovisuelle Medien an der HdM in der gleichwertigen
Kombination von Technik und Gestaltung. Es wird die Zielsetzung
verfolgt Studierende durch Einbeziehung in Forschungsprojekte und
die Mitarbeit an Projekte angewandter Wissenschaft als kompetente
Anwärter auf führende Schnittstellenpositionen in der
Filmindustrie auszubilden und international zu
vernetzen.

Dabei wird die enge Zusammenarbeit von Hochschulforschung und
Unternehmen aus der freien Wirtschaft als eine wichtige Säule
angesehen. Es wird eine projektbezogene Drittmittelförderung
angestrebt, die sich sowohl an die Industrie als auch an die
öffentliche Förderung wendet.

Die internationale Zusammenarbeit und der Austausch mit anderen
Universitäten soll über gemeinsame Projekte forciert

Stefan Grandinetti
(born 1965 in Rheinbach, Germany) is Professor for Cinematography
for Film and Television at the Stuttgart Media University of
Applied Sciences (HdM). Appointed in 2010 he is head of
"mso-spacerun: yes;"> the faculty of film and teaches
arts and technology of cinematography in the Department of Audio
Visual Media.

career as assistant-camera with international feature films such
as „Enemy at the Gates“, „Resident
Evil“, "Equilibrium" and „Luther“.

In 2003, he graduated
from the Potsdam-Bablesberg Film Academy HFF „Konrad
Wolf“ and has since been been working as a Director of
Photography for feature films, documentaries, as well as
industrials and commercials.

He was the Director of
Photography for documentaries such as the Emmy International,
Golden Hugo and Outstanding Achievments for Digital Video Winner
„Life Goes On“ and Prix Europa Winner for Best
Documentary „Testimony“. His feature films (e.g.
„The House is Burning“, „Rain is Falling“)
have been invited to festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlinale,
Aspen, Valladolid, and many more.

His fields of research
are innovative technologies for cinematography such as High Dynamic
Range (HDR) and Higher Frame Rates (HFR) for cinematic motion
pictures. He is invited as speaker to international conferences and
fairs.

Stefan Grandinetti is
a member of the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK), Society
for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T), Society of
Television and Cinema Technology Germany (FKTG) and SMPTE. He has
been a guest speaker at the Munich Film Academy, HfG-Karlsruhe and
HFF in Potsdam-Babelsberg. He has been invited for presentations to
international conferences such as Electronic Imaging
(IS&T/SPIE) in San Francisco, CINEC in Munich, MPEG/ISO-meeting
in Strassbourg, CAMERIMAGE in Bydgosczc, CIC23, and others. Since
2017 he became active member of the IMAGO-CCTC (Creative
Cinematography Technical Commitee).
