Color look analysis of films with thriller elements after the year 2000 and investigation of the relationship between the story element "tension" and color

The goal of the present bachelor thesis was to analyze the colors of five movies of the 21st century to find similarities as well as differences, and to identify certain color looks. Another goal was to analyze whether there is a connection between the story element 'Tension', that appears in all of the movies, and certain color looks. For this analysis, around 21 images of one scene per movie were tested. A custom-developed computer program was used to identify the main colors of a single image. Three different color looks could be found and similarities with "Tension" were identified.
