Color and look analysis of Netflix thumbnail images

Humans are visual beings. All industries take advantage of this fact and always strive to develop visually appealing products, advertisements or services to win customers. The film and production industry is no different, which is why video-on-demand services like Netflix want to present the content they offer in the best possible light. They achieve this by meticulously designing the preview images of the content in such a way that they appear as interesting and appealing as possible for the respective viewer to click on and look at. This paper deals with the analysis of preview images of films and series on Netflix. The colours are analysed by means of special software and the results are used for the subsequent, final colour and look analysis.
