The world of media is full of maths.
(Prof. Dr Bernhard Eberhardt, Hochschule der Medien)

Experience shows that many first-year students have great difficulties in this subject and really struggle with it in the first two semesters. It doesn't have to be that way!

For several years now, the HdM has been offering a maths pre-course designed to help. On five consecutive days, you will learn (or repeat) the most important aspects of school maths before you really get down to business in the lectures.

In a relaxed atmosphere, you will alternate between theory and practical exercises (sometimes in supervised groups), where you can also get to know fellow students who may have similar problems. Everything will be easier together!

As a rule, the maths pre-course takes place every semester in the week before the start of the semester.

Zwei Studierende melden sich in der Vorlesung.

Online course EHM

The Hochschule der Medien offers online courses to all first-year students who want to do a little more, enabling them to brush up on their maths skills or to prepare specifically for university mathematics:

Maths has two aims at university...

  • It is a tool for determining quantitative results in technical or business analyses.
  • It serves to train the ability to abstract and structured logical thinking.

A high level of abstraction is essential for specialists and managers in order to develop and communicate viable solutions for complex tasks.
