Student residences
The Studierendenwerk Stuttgart currently maintains 35 halls of residence with over 7,200 places, most of which are located near the universities. Students can rent a room from 200 euros per month. Single rooms, flats or rooms in shared flats are available. The period of residence is limited to four semesters. The Vereinigung Stuttgarter Studentenwohnheime e.V. also rents out almost 900 places in halls of residence on the Vaihingen campus.

Studierendenwerk Stuttgart offers diverse and centrally located accommodation for students in Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Esslingen and Göppingen. With around 5800 places in 31 halls of residence, all utilities are included in the warm rent. There is also a free database for private rooms, short-term lets and support with subletting. A tenant portal as well as tutoring programmes and legal advice complete the offer.

An income tax card is issued in all citizens' offices. Foreign students can obtain their first residence permit at the Citizens' Office. Some services are available online, so that a personal visit to the citizens' office is not necessary.
