Print & Packaging
Packaging is a global industry with annual growth rates surpassing the average global GNP. Printing is vital to all packaging as the printed material on a package provides consumers with information, convenience and functionality.
+++ PLEASE NOTE: This programme will not run in Summer Semester 2026 due to campus renovation works in the faculty facilities! +++

From Design to Delivery
This course will provide an overview of different printing and packaging methods. You will learn how these processes impact sustainability, cost and quality.
You will learn about the entire workflow, including colour management strategies, artwork creation, pre-media and pre-press workflows, plate and cylinder making, packaging and decor printing, print finishing, technical specifications, schedules, packaging logistics, packaging technologies, packaging and printing materials, budgets and tips and tricks. The course includes many subjects involving practical work, such as Campaign Management, Traineeship in Printing and Advanced Labs
You will participate in lectures and projects taught as part of our international Print Media Technologies and our Packaging Technology degree programmes. Students from all over the world take part in these sessions. Like its industry, Print & Packaging is a truly international study programme.

About our programs
Exchange students are able to choose from a variety of English-taught Minor Programs. Each Minor is a one semester long set program. Most Minors run every semester, and normally consist of 30 ECTS credits. 1 ECTS credit normally equals approximately 30 hours of work. Please note that it is NOT possible to pick and mix courses from different Minors. In order to be admitted to one of our Minors, we expect students to have a language level of B2 or higher in English (non-native speakers need to include proof of language proficiency in their application documents).

Important Information
You can choose freely from the list of courses, the total amount of ECTS taken should be 30. Please note, that there might be timetable clashes between the different courses. This is not a set 30 ECTS package, like the other Minors are. Please prepare your study plan with some back-up module options, as you will finalise your schedule on arrival when timetables have been set. You need to discuss your final suggested list with your HdM Faculty Coordinator after acceptance. Please make sure you consult with your Faculty Coordinator at HdM, Prof Dr Jansen, prior to your arrival, if the learning agreement/study plan for your home university has strict regulations/limitations. (W= Offered only in Winter Semester, S = Offered only in Summer Semester, W/S= Offered both in Winter and in Summer Semester)
Additionally to the academic courses and the German language course, you can choose the course Intercultural Communication or German Society and Culture, if there is capacity and they do not clash with your timetable.
