
The Rectorate introduces itself
The university is managed by the collegial Rectorate. In addition to the Rector and the Chancellor, the Rectorate currently includes three part-time members of the Rectorate.

Prof Dr Alexander Roos
Prof Dr Alexander Roos has been the Rector of Hochschule der Medien since 2006 and is responsible for the overall strategic management of the university. He represents the HdM externally, sets strategic impulses in teaching, research, transfer and university policy as well as in all other future-oriented aspects.

Nicole Kuhn
Nicole Kuhn has been the Chancellor of Hochschule der Medien since 2022. Her duties include the management of the university administration, responsibility for the budget and all measures of financial importance, personnel administration and the performance of legal and administrative tasks at the university. Within the scope of her responsibilities, the Chancellor contributes to efficient and process-oriented procedures at the university and the further development of central topics (such as digitalisation, personnel development, construction measures).

Vice Rectors
Vice-Rectors support the Rector in managing the university and are responsible for their business areas. They represent their topics in the Rectorate and ensure that the university's central development goals are achieved in their respective areas.

Vice-Rector for Teaching and Quality Management
Prof Dr Mathias Hinkelmann has been responsible for the continuous development of teaching at the HdM since 2007. He is responsible for the quality assurance of studies and teaching, accompanies the internal accreditation and audit procedures and supports the teaching staff in the implementation of innovative didactic concepts. The focus is on the further development of study programmes as well as student orientation.

Vice Rector for Innovation Management
As Vice-Rector for Innovation Management, Prof Dr Nils Högsdal has been promoting entrepreneurial thinking and new approaches to research and transfer at HdM since 2016, which also find their way into teaching. He supports university-wide innovation processes, initiates and supports research projects and supports start-up initiatives as well as interdisciplinary cooperation within the university.

Vice-Rector for Corporate communication team and marketing
Prof Dr Katrin Hassenstein has been in charge of the university's external communications as Vice Rector since 2022. She is responsible for the communicative positioning of the HdM in the public eye and coordinates marketing measures, media work and the HdM's digital presence.
