On a voyage of discovery through the world of media
MediaNight at the HdM
That evening, it was an absolute must to stroll around the university campus with open ears and alert eyes. Around 120 projects were exhibited in the modular buildings and in the rooms at Nobelstrasse 8 and 10a - and there was something to experience at every corner.

In the "Edit Lab", the creative laboratory of the Crossmedia Editing and Public Relations degree programme, visitors were able to take a look behind the headlines. In addition to the green screen and teleprompter challenge, there was also a live talk with journalist and presenter Leonie Maderstein at 7.30 pm. She gave insights into the SWR format "360 Grad" and was at MediaNight for the first time herself: "I was a bit nervous about speaking in front of students. But it was very cool. I did a tour earlier and I'm fascinated by everything there is to see here."
One floor below, the Digital and Media Management degree programme transformed an ordinary lecture room into a "sound lounge". Atmospheric pop tracks were played there, accompanied by matching music videos on the screen. Afterwards, a self-produced radio play episode of "Pfefferkörner" took those present back to their childhood.

Innovative machines
Numerous product designs and software developments rounded off the programme at Nobelstraße 10a. The topic of drinks was popular with students on the Industrial Engineering and Media degree programme: among other things, they were able to marvel at the "Wings Drinks" cocktail machine, a beer pouring machine and "Roborista" - a coffee bar where almost everything is automated, from payment to coffee dispensing.
Chocolate lentils are the perfect accompaniment to the hot drink. Packaging technology students used a prototype to demonstrate how these can be dispensed. The team reported with visible pride how exciting it was to work practically on such a machine, even if not everything always worked straight away: "Sometimes you have an idea and realise after testing that it doesn't work out that way. It was a cool learning process," explained one student from the fourth semester.

Versatile programme and great cinema
This year's "Students' Choice MediaNight Award" was won by the "Walkable History" project. The students from the Industrial Engineering and Media degree programme dedicated themselves to redesigning the existing website, which sheds light on the historical events in Stuttgart from 1933 to 1945. The award is voted on by students in advance to determine which project is the most convincing - in terms of sustainability, innovation or simply creativity.
At the film screenings in the Audimax, the largest lecture theatre at the HdM, all the seats were still taken even for the last screening at 10 pm. Various studio productions created in the Audiovisual Media degree programme were shown. The animated film "Inedible" made the audience laugh as they watched a mushroom escape from the cooking pot. The documentary "Laura's Kings", on the other hand, inspired admiration for a strong woman who is committed to the LGBTQ+ community.
The musical framework of the event was provided by the performances of various bands on the outdoor stage, including the HdM Big Band MAJAM. Cold drinks and good weather rounded off the summery atmosphere.
