The HdM celebrates its media talents

Graduates say goodbye over two days

The Stuttgart Media University (HdM) bid farewell to almost 800 graduates on 24 and 25 July 2025. In the presence of their families and friends, they received their congratulatory folders at several ceremonies on these two days. Two prizes were also awarded for outstanding academic achievements and for social commitment during their studies.

Congratulations from the university management

Vice-Rector Prof Dr Katrin Hassenstein, Vice-Rector Prof Dr Mathias Hinkelmann and Vice-Rector Prof Dr Nils Högsdal congratulated the graduates on behalf of the university management and wished them all the best for a successful start to a new chapter in their lives. "We hope that during your time at the university you were able to gain a lot of useful experience in addition to acquiring knowledge and that you will remain connected to HdM as alumni," said Prof Dr Katrin Hassenstein. "With your degree, you hold the ticket to your future life in your hands. Go out into the world and look forward to the land of adventure," adds Prof Dr Mathias Hinkelmann. "I hope you have perceived the HdM as a place of creativity and exchange, of innovation and transfer," wishes Prof Dr Nils Högsdal.

Bettina Opifanti and Stella Schmid, participants in the Moderation qualification programme of the Institute for Moderation (imo) at the HdM, moderated the ceremony. The musicians from "abgroovebereit" provided the musical backdrop.

Awards for academic achievements and commitment

The media experts received their congratulatory folders from the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Print and Media, Prof Dr Joachim Charzinski, the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication, Prof Dr Martin Engstler, and the Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Media, Prof Christine Ritz.

Presentation of the "University Prize" and "Social Prize"

The two awards were also presented there: Sara Tietze, a graduate of the Mobile Media degree programme, received the "University Prize" for the best degree of the summer semester 2025, presented by Johanna Kutter, Managing Director of the HdM Sponsors' Association, which donates the prize every semester. Deniz Isik, a graduate of the Media Management degree programme, received the "Social Award" for his commitment to student self-administration. This award is presented at the suggestion of the Students' Union (VS) and donated by the university.

Deniz Isik has been involved in the VS as a member of the Council and the Executive Board, as its Chairman, as a structural representative and in public relations. He also represented the interests of his fellow students in the Faculty Council and the Senate. He always had their welfare and opportunities for improvement in everyday student life in mind, even during his semester abroad or internship semester, according to the award citation.

Closing speech and champagne reception to round off the event

Deniz Isik gave the traditional graduation speech, in which he took stock of his time at university on behalf of his fellow students.

The ceremony was followed by a champagne reception where the graduates were able to toast their graduation, celebrate and take souvenir photos.
