Bachelor's programme application
Do you want to become a media specialist? Then a Bachelor's degree course at Stuttgart Media University is just the thing for you!
Apply by 15 July for the winter semester and by 15 January for the summer semester.
With its Bachelor's degree courses, HdM opens all doors to the diverse media industry. From design to business administration, there are degree programmes in packaging technology, computer science, product design, publishing, advertising and journalism. Convinced? We look forward to receiving your application!
Are you applying for a Bachelor's programme at the HdM for the first time?
1. register
To apply to the HdM, you must first register:
- The first step is a one-off registration on the Germany-wide application portal dosv.hochschulstart.de. After registering, you will receive an applicant ID (BID) and an applicant authentication number (BAN). The BID and BAN are important for the next steps in your application.
- You then register in the HdM applicant portal at bewerbung.hdm-stuttgart.de.
2. apply
Once you have successfully registered, you can apply for a Bachelor's degree programme on the HdM application portal. To apply, you will need the BID and BAN from hochschulstart.de; this information will be requested when you fill in the application data. At the HdM you may apply for up to three different Bachelor's degree programmes at the same time. (Exception: second degree applicants and applicants for a higher semester may only apply for one Bachelor's degree programme).
Enter your data and all necessary applications and documents in the HdM application portal. Don't forget to submit your application by clicking on the "Submit application" button. You can find a checklist with all the required documents here: Checklist of application documents (PDF)
Important: Your application documents must be submitted by the respective application deadline (summer semester: 15 January/ winter semester: 15 July) with all required documents and applications. Incomplete or unsubmitted applications cannot be processed and are excluded from the admission procedure.
3. prioritise
You must prioritise your applications on hochschulstart.de. This means that you prioritise your study preferences in the order that suits you best. Prioritisation has a major influence on the subsequent admission offer, as only one admission offer is valid at a time.
This means that if you receive two or more admission offers, only the offer you prioritised highest will be valid. Admission offers with a lower priority expire immediately as soon as an offer for a higher-priority degree programme is received. It is therefore very important that you think carefully about prioritising your applications. You can find more information on prioritisation at hochschulstart.de.
4. waiting for your admission offers
After the application deadline, the university will review all documents received. As soon as an offer of admission is received for one of your applications, you will be informed by e-mail from hochschulstart.de. You have time to accept this offer until you receive an offer of admission with a higher priority or the coordination phase ends. If two or more admission offers are received, only the offer with the highest priority is valid!
You can check the status of your application on hochschulstart.de at any time.
5. registered letter and upload of further documents if necessary
If you have received an offer of admission, you can accept the place via hochschulstart.de. You will then receive a letter of admission from the HdM (via hochschulstart.de) with information about the further enrolment process. You must upload the documents required for enrolment within a certain period of time (approx. 7-10 days), otherwise your offer of a place will lapse.
To finalise your enrolment, you must collect your student ID card in person (approx. two weeks before the start of your studies).
