The start of your degree programme is the first step into an exciting and instructive time. To ensure that you are well informed and prepared for your new chapter right from the start, you will find an overview of the most important to-dos for the first few weeks here. This guide will help you to find your feet and settle in, laying the foundations for a successful start to your studies.
Be informed
The start of your studies brings with it many exciting changes: a new environment, new people, new challenges. To help you find your feet quickly and start your studies well prepared, HdM invites you to the first semester information fair at the beginning of each semester. There you will receive valuable tips, get to know contact persons and discover everything you need to know about living and studying at the university. The next freshers' info fair will take place as part of the freshers' welcome on 6 October 2025.
First semester welcome in the winter semester 2025/26
The Hochschule der Medien welcomes you to the winter semester 2025/26 and wishes you all the best and every success for the start of your studies!
On Monday, 6 October 2025 , you will start your first day at the HdM. On this day, you will first be welcomed by the Rectorate and then by your degree programme.
We will divide the first-year Bachelor students into groups according to degree programme.
Your day will start at 9:00 am or 9:30 am. You will find the full programme on this page in due course.

During the first semester welcome, photos will be taken at the HdM, which will be published online and offline as part of this event and to promote other HdM events, as well as on the HdM's social media presence. If you do not want a picture of you to be used for these purposes, please contact us at the information desk on the day of the event with your name.
