Study and examination regulations (SPO)
The study and examination regulations (SPO) are the central regulations for every degree programme at a university. They set out in detail how your degree programme is structured and which requirements you must fulfil in order to obtain an academic degree.
SPO contents
In the SPO you will find, among other things:
- Study objectives and content: What you will learn and what competences you will acquire.
- Module descriptions: A detailed overview of individual courses (modules), their content, learning objectives, scope (ECTS credits) and forms of examination.
- Examination modalities: Information on the type, scope and repetition options of examinations, registration deadlines and assessments.
- Admission requirements: Which conditions must be fulfilled for admission to the degree programme.
- Recognition of achievements: Rules for the recognition of coursework completed at other universities or in previous degree programmes.
- Standard period of study: The recommended duration of the degree programme.
- Procedural regulations: For example, on reporting sick for examinations or on compensation for disadvantages.
