Specialisation Crossmedia-Redaktion (CR)
The Crossmedia-Redaktion (CR) specialisation prepares you for a career in journalism in the digital age. As a prospective journalist, you will learn how to professionally research, design and implement content across media - whether as text, video, podcast or social media format - in a practical and future-oriented way. Right from the start, you will work in our editorial team on articles that make a difference.
Journalistic craft meets creative media expertise
The CR degree programme provides in-depth specialist knowledge in sociology, psychology, journalism, data skills, business and law. At the same time, it promotes critical thinking and sharpens analytical and creative skills: You will learn to communicate complex content clearly and concisely. From the first semester onwards, you will work on real articles in a variety of formats - from articles and videos to social content and infographics. Later on, you will take on responsibility for our student magazine. An internship semester and international study options will optimally prepare you for your career entry.
Diverse careers in journalism and media communication
After graduating, there are many paths open to you: you can work in editorial offices of print, online or broadcast media, in content marketing, content creation or as a freelance journalist. You will understand how journalistic business models work, how content works - and how to optimise it in a measurable way. It is also possible to continue on to a Master's programme, e.g. in Medienmanagement or Unternehmenskommunikation at the HdM. This will allow you to actively shape the media world of tomorrow.
Specialisation Public Relations (PR)
The specialisation in Public Relations (PR) prepares you for professional communication in companies, agencies or organisations. You will learn how to plan and design content and manage it specifically via media channels. From content production and social media to campaign design and the organisation of press conferences and events, you will learn all the tools you need to become a professional in public relations.
Strategic communication meets practice and media diversity
In the foundation degree programme, you will acquire a broad range of knowledge - including journalism, psychology, sociology, economics and law - and learn how to prepare content for specific target groups and cross-media. This strengthens your understanding of media logic, which is central to PR. The specialisation focuses on strategic communication: you will plan campaigns, design content for different target groups and implement measures in text, images, video or social media. Practical projects, an integrated internship semester and an international semester prepare you specifically for your career entry.
PR professions between communication, consulting and social media
After graduating, you will work in the communications departments of companies, non-profit organisations or communications agencies. You will create content for press relations, internal communication or social media - or develop strategic communication concepts and advise organisations. The path to self-employment, for example as a content creator or communications consultant, is also open to you. If you would like to gain further qualifications, you can complete a Master's degree in Unternehmenskommunikation or Medienmanagement at the HdM - or make valuable practical contacts during your studies through the student initiative PRiS (PR in Stuttgart).
