A successful start at HdM is important to us. That is why we support new employees through our structured onboarding programme, "How to Start @ HdM". It includes guided induction by supervisors, a Welcome Day, an introductory meeting with the Staff Development team, and a tour of the campus and its facilities. This helps you get to know your colleagues and become familiar with HdM's culture. Depending on your role and individual needs, the onboarding programme can also be complemented by tailored job-shadowing opportunities in different departments across the university.
We are committed to creating better conditions that help employees balance family life and work. As a member of the "Familie in der Hochschule" network, we take employees' childcare and caring commitments into account. We offer family-friendly working conditions as well as individual advice and support from our in-house care adviser.
We cater to your needs by offering flexible working arrangements, including flexitime, part-time work and mobile working. Depending on your role, you can regularly work part of your working hours on a mobile basis in accordance with our works agreement and organise your working hours flexibly while taking our core working hours into account. Staff employed on externally funded projects can work predominantly on a mobile basis.
We value your health and create a healthy work-life balance through flexible working time models, mobile working, professional development, training time and programmes for occupational health management and work-life balance. Our culture promotes mindfulness, personal responsibility and sustainable working.
Our workplace health management programme (BGM) organises a wide range of annual sports and health-promoting activities with a focus on prevention. These include, for example, workplace sports, mobile massage services, health days and leisure events for employees. In addition, the BGM participates in wider initiatives such as the 'Stadtradeln' cycling campaign organised by the City of Stuttgart. Thanks to the voluntary commitment of the BGM team, the programme is continuously developed further and thrives on the active involvement of our employees.
As a university of the state of Baden-Württemberg, we offer you a meaningful and future-proof career in the public sector – with remuneration in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L), a defined annual leave entitlement and a transparent salary structure. In addition, we offer attractive employee benefits as well as an occupational pension scheme through the Federal and State Pension Institution (VBL). Employees covered by collective agreements receive an annual special payment, while civil servants receive a family allowance. Salary increases are based on a transparent pay system that takes your experience into account and follows collective agreements negotiated with trade unions.
HdM employees benefit from discounted public transport fares. We currently subsidise both the JobTicket BW and the Deutschland-Ticket Jobticket with 25 € per month. In addition, you can take advantage of JobBike BW, a bicycle leasing scheme for employees offering attractive terms. Further information and application details are available from the State Office for Salaries and Benefits (LBV) and the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg.
HdM is conveniently located in the Stuttgart district of Vaihingen and is easy to reach by public transport, bicycle or car. Cyclists benefit from a bicycle repair station, free bicycle parking and affordable bicycle garages for rent. There are also charging points for e-bikes, e-scooters and electric vehicles.
The campus is just a short walk from the ‘Universität’ S-Bahn station, served by lines S1, S2 and S3, as well as the ‘Nobelstraße’ and ‘Schranne’ bus stops, which are served by several bus routes from Stuttgart and the surrounding area. The nearest motorway junction is also only a few minutes away, providing direct access to the A8 and A81 motorways.
